Balcomie Castle 200kw KSM wood chip boiler

In 2014 Cheviot Heat & Power Ltd won a contract to supply and install a 200kw KSM boiler on a farm in Fife, Scotland.

We undertook the full turnkey design and installation package, the system was to heat 3 cottages, Balcomie Castle and a holiday let.

Our client wanted a boiler that could burn lower grade wood chip so that it would help to reduce his wood fuel costs further, so we decided on the KSM biomass boiler solution.

The KSM XXL boiler range is a fully automated wood chip boiler’s with a large step grate system in the combustion chamber. This ensures that the boiler can cope better with larger pieces of wood chip that other boilers would struggle with.

The client had a corner of a building that he was happy to have converted into a biomass plant room

Once the biomass plant had been installed Cheviot Heat & Power installed the complete M & E package including 350meters of district heating pipe and the integration of the new system into the existing properties.

From the client ...

We first contacted Cheviot Heat and Power during the summer of 2014 with plans to install a 200kw biomass system. After meeting Paul Barton on site to discuss our requirements we were impressed with his extensive knowledge and experience of biomass systems of all sizes.

Installation was carried out during Dec 2014 in time to meet RHI deadlines. Throughout the planning, installation and commissioning phases of this project Paul has shown his commitment to offering a first class service to his clients and as a result of this we wouldn’t hesitate in recommending him and his business to any prospective clients.
