In February 2018 we were awarded the contract to supply and install a 400kw KSM biomass boiler with the full turnkey package for the plant room that also included an oil back up boiler.
The system was required for heating of pheasant chick rearing system that the estate runs as well as cottages, workshops and staff welfare rooms including shower rooms.
For this project we decided to use the KSM XXL range of boilers, these are step grate machines and are very robust ideal for wood chip on agricultural systems.
The fuel storage / transport system on this project was a 4 meter square bunker that was constructed using concrete panels. KSM supplied a sweep auger with a transport auger to deliver the wood chip to the boiler.
The biggest part of this project was to complete all the pipework installation and have both the biomass boiler and the oil back up boiler commissioned and running by the first week in April.
We managed to complete the boiler installation and commissioning and the system was in operation before the client required heat for their chick production.
